Operating in the vibrant core of New York City, the STEM2Youth Manhattan Chapter engages students from Harlem to the Lower East Side, offering programs that make STEM accessible across diverse neighborhoods. Through partnerships with schools in District 2 and District 3, as well as youth programs at the New York Public Library, the chapter brings creativity and discovery to the city’s classrooms, empowering Manhattan’s youth to innovate in one of the world’s greatest learning centers.
Chapter Founders: Jake and Team
I’m Joaquim (Jake) Hawken, a high school student at BASIS Independent, passionate about physics, biology, and data. I lead peer study sessions, design simple experiments for outreach events, and work with community groups to bring free, beginner-friendly STEM workshops to younger students. I care about opening doors in STEM, building confidence, and serving my community through learning by doing.
