Located at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia, the STEM2Youth TJHSST Chapter engages youth across Arlington, Fort Hunt, and Old Town Alexandria. The team hosts robotics labs, coding camps, and science fairs in collaboration with local schools and community centers like the Arlington Mill Community Center and Hammond Middle School. Their mission is to make advanced STEM learning approachable and exciting for students throughout Northern Virginia.
Chapter Founders: Hannah, Semiru, Jezania, Nhi, and Team
I’m Hannah Devurr, and I’m interested in biomedical engineering, particularly in designing medical technologies that improve patient care and accessibility. I’m drawn to applying engineering principles to healthcare challenges, using innovation to create solutions that directly improve quality of life.

I’m Semiru Abraham, and I’m interested in electrical engineering, with a focus on circuits and embedded systems. I enjoy working hands-on with hardware and using technology to design efficient, real-world solutions that solve practical problems.

I’m Jezania Poonis, and I’m interested in environmental engineering, particularly in designing sustainable solutions that address pollution and resource management. I’m drawn to using STEM to protect ecosystems while improving the health and resilience of communities.

I’m Nhi, and I’m interested in computer science, especially in software development and data analysis. I enjoy building programs that solve practical problems and using technology to create tools that are both efficient and impactful.
